Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust
Brahmana Samooha Welfare and Vedavruddhi Trust was established in 1998 by a group of Samaritans from Tuticorin with a motive to assist economically backward but bright students to further their education. Another aim was to support Vedashalas that impart knowledge of Vedas and Shastras.
Accordingly every year, the Trust awards scholarships to around 90 – 100 students from various rural pockets of Tuticorin and Tirunelveli districts and also supports the running of Sanathan Vedashastra Rig Veda Pathshala at Krishnapuram, Tirunelvelli.
Since 2010, Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust has been supporting this cause with an annual donation.
614 students have been awarded scholarships since 2010. Most of them have completed their studies, have secured a job and are leading a dignified life. One girl, named DIVYA, is pursuing her medical degree (MBBS). Divya says “I come from a poor background and would have never taken admission to Medical College, because of the high fee structure. But this scholarship program helped me in fulfilling my dream. I shall always remain indebted towards KCET and BSWVVT for their magnanimous support”
