Viswa Santhi Vidyalaya was founded by Pujya Sri Swami Omkar Maharaj on 18th June 1977, to emphasize the principles of humanity and human values.

The main purpose of the school was to provide quality education to the children of the poor and middle class communities of Kotagiri (in Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu).

Initially it was a very informal kind of school (without Govt. Recognition) and only 90 children studying in small classrooms.

However Late Lokumal Chellaram (who shared a great rapport with Swami Omkar Maharaj) agreed to construct new classrooms for accommodating more number of children. The classrooms were constructed through Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust, Mumbai.

With more classrooms and a good infrastructure in place the school received recognition till 6th Standard in May 1990.

Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust continued to construct more classrooms, toilet blocks, computer centre, library, and laboratory and finally the school got recognition till Matriculation Level in October 2000.

Today the school boasts of 31 spacious classrooms accommodating 1375 students, a well-equipped science laboratory, library with wide collection of books, Computer Lab and a staff of 41 talented teachers.

Impact:

1375 poor students are currently availing education at the school. The matriculation result is always 100% with majority of students scoring distinction.
