“My parents never wanted to send me to school, especially my father. We live in a small hutment and my mother thought I could help her do household chores and earn some money. But one day Tiwari Sir of Maa Anandamayee School visited our hutments and urged all the parents to send their children to school. He said that the school will take care of the stationery and uniforms plus there would very nominal tuition fee charged. He said a Trust from Mumbai - Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust – is supporting them in educating the poor. Today I am studying in 8th standard and I owe this to Tiwari Sir and the Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust or else I would have never seen school in my life."

“I belong to the clan of Schedule Tribes and I live with my mother, elder sister and younger brother. My father passed away ten years ago. The State Government has provided us with a piece of land measuring 40 cents. My mother works on this land and earns us bread and butter. But the income thus generated is not sufficient enough to meet our basic requirements. So my uncle and some close relatives help us from time to time. Under such circumstances a girl like me could never have dreamt of getting admission into a school that too of such high calibre, had it not been for Viswa Santhi Vidyalaya. I am aware of the momentous contribution made by the Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust of Mumbai. It is because of such generous people that children like me get opportunities to realize their dreams. Today I am in standard 10th and I am sure I will pass out with flying colours”

Supported by:

Kishinchand Chellaram Educational Trust

“I study in 7th standard at a school in Dharavi. However I could barely read or understand the subjects being taught as I could not afford private tuitions and the teachers of the Municipal School, where I studied, did not bother at all. I started hating studies. That is when I came to know about K.C. Libraries. These were run by Pratham tecahers to help students like me who were unable to follow anything being taught in school. In short they were like private tuitions but free of cost. I started going regularly to one of the libraries close to our house. The teachers were very dedicated and loving. Within a few months I was able to read fluently and i again started loving studies.”

"I truly express my gratitude to Brahmana Samooha Welfare Veda Vruddhi Trust, from the bottom of my heart for awarding me the scholarship to pursue my Engineering (B.E Civil). This ray of light started since my secondary school education, which motivated me and made me secure 91%, 92%, and 91.2% at my SSLC (2005), HSC (2007) and Bachelor’s degree (2007-2011) respectively. I’m working with a Construction company in Bangalore for the past 6½ years. I would definitely say that today I am here only because of the generosity of people involved in this scholarship program. Without scholarship patrons willing to support education, students such as myself would be unable to pursue our dreams. "
