Background:

Mata Anandmayee hospital was founded in 1971 to render medical services to the poor communities in and around Varanasi. The hospital is 50 bedded and caters to around 60,000 – 70,000 patients annually. A majority of patients are from the BPL (Below Poverty Line) category. The hospital is located on the main road and is close to the Vishwanath Temple (3 km).

Since inception, Lokumal Kishinchand Charity Trust has supported the hospital in getting in good shape through donation of various medical equipment. Lately the Trust donated an Ultra Sonography machine, an X-Ray machine, Anaesthesia machine, Haematology Analyser, a C-Arm and an uretero-renoscope with complete lower track set for urological procedures.

Impact:

With enhanced healthcare facilities from the hospital, the morbidity and mortality rate among the patients from BPL community has drastically come down.
